Creating PDF Reports

Generate PDF reports from your captures. Visual PDFs are available on Lens Core. AI captions and executive summary require Lens Pro, Lens Trust, or an active trial.

Quick read

Select photos in Gallery and tap PDF to build a report. Visual PDFs work on Lens Core; AI captions and executive summary need Pro, Trust, or a trial with AI reports remaining. The guide below covers settings, limits, and export.

which report content uses AI.

Overview

Lens turns selected gallery captures into a structured PDF. Every tier can create a visual PDF with photos and metadata.

AI photo captions and an AI executive summary are available with:

  • An active trial that still has AI reports remaining
  • Lens Pro
  • Lens Trust

You can edit generated text after the report is created. Organize by activity is an optional layout for AI-eligible accounts; it groups photos into activities rather than drafting prose by itself.

Quick PDF from Gallery

Step 1: Select Photos

  1. Open Gallery
  2. Long-press any photo to enter selection mode
  3. Tap additional photos to select (numbered badges show order)

Tip: Selection order determines report sequence.

Step 2: Generate

Tap PDF on the floating action bar (or Generate PDF where shown).

  • Lens Core, or trial with no AI reports left: visual PDF only
  • Pro, Trust, or trial with AI reports remaining: captions and summary follow Settings → Reports & AI → PDF Report Settings → Report Content

Processing typically takes 10 to 30 seconds depending on photo count and whether AI copy is included.

Step 3: Export

  • Share: Send via email, Messages, AirDrop
  • Save: Export to Files app
  • Print: Send directly to printer

Optional: Content Credentials for PDF reports (Preview)

If you use Lens Trust and enable Content Credentials for PDF reports under Settings → Content Credentials → Reports, Lens can sign the exported PDF on your device. This is a preview feature and is not yet part of Lens's formal C2PA conformance evaluation for photos and videos. The toggle is off by default.

  • Consistent framing: Similar angles improve narrative coherence
  • Include context shots: Wide + detail shots tell complete story

Notes

  • Add specific observations (e.g., "Crack width: 2mm")
  • Include measurements when relevant
  • Note weather conditions affecting work

Limits

ConstraintValue
Photos per reportUp to 50
Processing time10 to 30 seconds typical
Offline capabilityVisual PDF can work offline; AI captions and summary need a network connection
Trial AI reportsLimited number during trial; after that, quick PDF stays visual-only until upgrade

Troubleshooting

Report Generation Fails

Cause: Processing timeout or network issue

Fix:

  1. Reduce number of selected photos
  2. Ensure stable network connection (required for AI captions and summary)
  3. Retry generation

Photos Appear Out of Order

Cause: Selection order differs from intended sequence

Fix: Clear selection → re-select in desired order

No captions or summary in the PDF

Cause: Lens Core, expired trial, or trial AI reports used up; or those toggles are off in Report Content settings

Fix: Check Settings → Reports & AI → PDF Report Settings. Upgrade to Lens Pro or Lens Trust if the section shows Upgrade.
