Creating PDF Reports

Overview

Lens turns selected gallery captures into a structured PDF. Every tier, including the free trial, can create a visual PDF with photos and metadata.

AI photo captions and an AI executive summary require:

Lens Pro
Lens Trust

The 14-day free trial includes Lens Core only. You can edit generated text after the report is created. Organize by activity is an optional layout for Lens Pro and Lens Trust; it groups photos into activities rather than drafting prose by itself.

Quick PDF from Gallery

Step 1: Select Photos

Open Gallery
Long-press any photo to enter selection mode
Tap additional photos to select (numbered badges show order)

Tip: Selection order determines report sequence.

Step 2: Generate

Tap PDF on the floating action bar (or Generate PDF where shown).

Lens Core or the free trial: visual PDF only
Pro or Trust: captions and summary follow Settings → PDF Report Settings → AI Content, where they are off by default. They also need AI features turned on in Settings → AI.

Processing typically takes 10 to 30 seconds depending on photo count and whether AI copy is included.

Content Credentials for PDF reports

If you use Lens Trust, Lens adds Content Credentials to generated PDF reports under Settings → Content Credentials → Reports. The setting is on by default when no preference is saved, and you can turn it off at any time. Signing continues in the background after the report preview appears.

PDF document generation is included in Lens's current public C2PA conformance record. PDF is not declared as a Validate media type, so this status should not be read as a claim about validating an existing PDF as an input.

AI Content settings

Settings → PDF Report Settings → AI Content

All three options are off by default on every plan. Turn on the ones you want, and quick PDFs use them from then on. If you changed these settings before, Lens keeps your choice. Report Builder also has its own AI generate buttons for a single report.

To use these options, first turn on AI features in Settings → AI. AI features are off by default. When you turn them on, Lens shows which company receives your photos and report details. Lens uses Claude by Anthropic by default. You can choose Gemini by Google in that sheet, or later under Settings → AI → AI model. See the Privacy Policy for what Lens sends.

Pages & Labels settings

Settings → PDF Report Settings → Pages & Labels

Show page numbers	Adds page numbers in the footer of content pages
Label photos and videos	Adds a numbered label under each photo or video, such as Image 1
Add contents page	Adds a page listing every photo and video, with linked sources when Content Credentials are enabled

These options are available on every plan. They do not require AI.

Tips for Better Reports

Photo Selection

Order matters: First photo becomes cover image
Consistent framing: Similar angles improve narrative coherence
Include context shots: Wide + detail shots tell complete story

Notes

Add specific observations (e.g., "Crack width: 2mm")
Include measurements when relevant
Note weather conditions affecting work

Report Title Colors

Settings → Project → Default Report Title Color

Troubleshooting

Report Generation Fails

Cause: Processing timeout or network issue

Fix:

Reduce number of selected photos
Ensure stable network connection (required for AI captions and summary)
Retry generation

Photos Appear Out of Order

Cause: Selection order differs from intended sequence

Fix: Clear selection → re-select in desired order

No captions or summary in the PDF

Cause: Photo captions and executive summary are off by default. Lens Core and the free trial do not include them.

Fix: On Lens Pro or Lens Trust, turn on Photo captions and Executive summary in Settings → PDF Report Settings → AI Content. If the section shows Upgrade, upgrade to Lens Pro or Lens Trust.
